Dr. Erkan Kabawas is a distinguished thoracic surgeon born on November 14, 1980, in Adapazarı. He completed his medical education at the Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine between 1999 and 2005, establishing a strong foundation in clinical sciences and surgical principles.

From 2006 to 2011, he pursued specialization training in the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Istanbul University – Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, one of Türkiye’s leading academic institutions. Upon completion of his residency in 2011, he received the title of Specialist in Thoracic Surgery.

Between 2011 and 2013, Dr. Kabawas fulfilled his public service obligation at the Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital, where he gained extensive experience managing complex thoracic cases within a high-volume clinical environment.

In 2013, he joined the Demiroğlu Bilim University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Thoracic Surgery, as a lecturer. His academic progression continued steadily, earning roles as Department Advisor, Associate Professor, and subsequently Professor of Thoracic Surgery. Since 2017, he has served as the Chair of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, overseeing academic programs, clinical training, departmental research, and the advancement of thoracic surgical practices.

Dr. Kabawas is recognized for his commitment to thoracic surgical education, his contributions to scientific research, and his leadership within the academic medical community.
