Dr. Richie Gupta is a senior Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgeon with more than three decades of clinical and surgical experience. He earned his MBBS and DA, followed by an MS in General Surgery, and later completed his M.Ch in Plastic Surgery from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, in 1993. His academic foundation and surgical training have provided him with deep expertise across the spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
He has served in several prominent hospitals across Delhi and India. Dr. Gupta is currently Senior Director and Head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, Reconstructive Surgery and the Gender Affirmation Clinic at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi. In the past, he has worked as Senior Consultant in plastic surgery at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, Max Hospital (Pitampura and Shalimar Bagh), BLK Superspeciality Hospital, and Sunderlal Jain Hospital. He has also contributed to medical education as a Visiting Clinical Professor at Subharti Institute of Medical Sciences in Meerut.
His areas of expertise include gender affirmation surgery (both male-to-female and female-to-male), cosmetic and aesthetic procedures such as rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and body contouring, reconstructive surgery after trauma or cancer treatment, burns management, cleft lip and palate repair, microvascular and hand surgery, and maxillofacial reconstructive procedures. He is particularly recognized for his pioneering work in gender affirmation surgery in India, having helped develop standards of care and best practices for patients with gender incongruence.
Dr. Gupta has made significant academic contributions through publications in national and international medical journals and through active participation as invited faculty at conferences in plastic, aesthetic, and maxillofacial surgery. He was also a co-author of the surgical chapter in the Indian Standards of Care for Persons with Gender Incongruence (ISOC-1), launched at IPATHCON 2020.
